Bazaart goes bananas for spring

We have just released a new major version of Bazaart to the AppStore. it took us weeks of hard work, but we’re super happy with the results and more importantly - our community seems to be lovin’ it! They asked and we’ve listened - comments, copy and flip, popular boards are all in the mix. Oh, and a new iPhone viewer app too!

The folks at AppAdvice were kind enough to review the new version as it launched. “At long last, Bazaart is now compatible with iPhone and iPod touch as well as iPad.” writes reviewer Aldrin Calimlim, and we couldn’t agree more.

Isabelle has been using Bazaart for a couple of months now, creating the most warm, feminine and beautiful collages, and was already featured three times on “Bazaart of the Week”. We chatted with her a bit on her collage creation process and hope you’ll find it inspiring!

Gili: Tell us a little bit about yourself please.

Isabelle: I’m a 53 years old woman who lives in Quebec, Canada. I study art history at the university and I was head editor of a women magazine for a couple of years. I like collaging, scrapbooking, calligraphy and beautiful things.

Gili: Did you create collages or other forms of art before Bazaart?

Isabelle: Yeah, I have always collected beautiful images that I pinned on a board (not online).

Gili: How did you find Bazaart?

Isabelle: My computer technician showed it to me while he was demonstrating the iPad features.

Gili: What types of collages do you create on Bazaart?

Isabelle: Artistic collage mostly. I play with color and texture and a lot of romance.

Gili: How do you create a collage? What is your process?

Isabelle: Spontaneously, I choose a picture that inspires me and mix it with other pins that I meticulously sort on Pinterest. Some collages took me a few seconds to do, others took me about half an hour.

Gili: What do you do with your complete collages?

Isabelle: Sometimes I print them and add them to my life board as an inspirational sight.

Gili: What else would you like to see in Bazaart?

Isabelle: Stability (the software crashes often since the latest versions on my ipad). More control on featured collage (some that are presented to me are not my taste). I would like to see sub communities based on similar taste and artistic interest or value, so I would not have to deal with weird collages (that are not my taste). I would also like more control on the cut out feature.

To prevent what they call “empty canvas angst,” i.e. starting from a blank canvas, Bazaart allows its users to restyle collages made by others. The app also has great social integration, allowing users to share their collages on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, email, and allows collages to be saved to the iPad’s camera roll. A “like” button has also been added recently.”

“When I met the Bazaart team a year ago, they walked me through the concept of creating stylized collages utilizing pins on Pinterest. At first, I wasn’t so sure it was something people would use. But let me say this now: People are definitely going to use this. First, the process of creating a collage from your own pins offers one of a hell of an user-experience, and the outcome is superb!

Secondly, it is the best way to showcase your pins, all together, in one visual element. You can still see pins individually when flipping through a collage (or like this on the web), repin individual elements, or restyle the whole thing. Next I gather, Bazaart should add the ability to buy items right from their app, but right now, it’s all about mixing and styling everything on the web – And, it is a pure fun.

I also noticed that throughout the whole process, Bazaart considered the users’ experience first, which is always great and mutually rewarding. Bazaart launched in the App Store in August, and since then, over 4K collages have been created solely through organic marketing, not a penny was spent. For me, this fandom is a testament which speaks for itself.”
